Ghosts don’t just appear in far way places...The Country House is a restaurant and tavern in Clarendon Hills on 55th street. The Country house is known for their great food, drinks and tavern vibes. However, The Country House is most known for their “ghost” that lives in the attic of the Restaurant. I used the Clarendon Hills Historical Society Website because I know it is a trustworthy site because it is the site for the Clarendon Hills Town and they are telling the History of this town.

20 years after the accident, in 1974, a strange legend was born on this day. Many of the unexplainable actions that were observed are still witnessed to this day. An employee of the restaurant was asked to stay after hours to clean up. He would start to hear noises like the jukebox turning itself on in the middle of the night. Once, he left the bathroom during the sound of the jukebox playing and when he entered the bar area he noticed a beautiful blonde woman in a red dress in front of the jukebox. He approached her to ask her to leave because he thought she was a customer there after hours, then he noticed there was nothing but air between the bottom of her dress and the floor.
The haunting doesn't just happen to employees, some visitors have experienced things as well. There has been times when people have heard the hostess calling their names to be seated, then the hostess denies ever calling their names. There have been heard footsteps in the dining room and upstairs even though no one is moving. In the Kitchen, pots and pans clash together. In some very rare occurrences people have reported to see a young, pretty, blonde women sitting next to the upstairs window of the restaurant as they drive by.
The story of The Country House ghost has been a long time childhood ghost story of mine. I used to live a block away from The Country House and I would go to the restaurant all the time. I think it's cool but scary at the same time that there are ghosts in our own town and not just far away places are haunted.
