Summary:
In the article "Activist Group: U.S. led Syria strikes kill over 900" published by the Associated Press on Friday, a Syrian activist group claims that over 900 people have been killed by U.S. airstrikes since September. 52 civilians have been killed as a result of these airstrikes. The United States have been targeting the Islamic State group in Syria starting in September, after doing so also in Iraq. This is all a result of the Syrian civil war, which has resulted in over 200,000 casualties, and counting.
Analysis:
I believe it is wrong for the U.S. to be partaking in these violent acts. They should try to stay out of this conflict by any needs necessary as to not get their hands dirty in someone else's war. Much like the American Civil war of the 1860s, disturbing amounts of people are dying. The death should obviously try to be kept at a minimum, and I believe if the U.S. stopped associating themselves with this fight, the death toll would go down.
Discussion Questions:
What do you think the U.S. should do about the Syrian Civil War?
How do you feel about the deaths of innocent civilians/
What do you think the future in Syria holds?
I think the US should only help out a tiny bit, to solve everything, but I dont think we should get fully into their war. Bursting into something you were never apart of at first can lead to more problems than less. The death tolls will for sure go up, and more tension will be caused. Though I think we should somewhat help out in this war, I think we should take a tiny step back.
ReplyDeleteI believe that there isn't much the U.S. can do about collateral damage such as civilian casualties the ultimate goals of the airstrikes is to stop a radical Islamic state from being formed because then because they would have access to many weapons including nuclear bombs. So I personally think that there is no way to avoid civilian casualties. The U.S. should do all they can to avoid collateral deaths but the airstrikes should continue for the greater good.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I think that the deaths of innocent civilians is not justified because they are just normal humans that like us are trying to live a normal life. Also, the American's should go in that war and try to boss it out. They should just let them fix it on their own. They should not try to go help because that is what happens, they get accused for many murders.
ReplyDeleteI think that the U.S. should sit back, and not do anything . Because I wouldn't want to get involved with that crazy country. I feel bad for the civilians because it is our fault their dead. I think that Syria will be controlled by the winner, and go back to a normal country.
