1920, Germany is in turmoil they had signed a treaty after World War I forcing them to pay astronomical reparations for damages. The country quickly collapsed under immense financial debt and inflation. This is where a cunning young man from Austria took power. I believe that people were angry and needed someone to lead them and someone to blame for their troubles, other than themselves and Hitler said everything they needed to hear.
Hitler was at first keeping tabs on the Nazi Party but soon fell in love with their ideals, this caused him to think how he could take control. People wanted to blame someone and the Nazi’s hated the Jews and so put two and two together, Hitler told people that the Jews were the problem and were thieves of the true German people. As they felt better about themselves and their failures that soon they listened to his other ideas, soon Hitler entranced them with his ideals and gained immense power and no one noticed.
Not only did Hitler say he hated people like the Jews and wanted a purer Germany, but he also had a vague plan on how to get rid of them, no he did not say send them to death camps. It was as if he was running a campaign because just like now, politicians say things we want to hear and provide structure to carry out their ideas and make us feel better as Hitler did, they become our “Best Friends”.
This is another way for Hitler to rise and people to follow him, because Hitler said the things that people wanted to hear and it helps that he also believed someone his crazy ideals. Just like back then, in the real world people want to be around others who make them feel better and therefore Hitler became the German people’s best friend (despite being Austrian, not German).
