The Walking Dead

It has been told from the Torah that a resurrection of the dead is in store to happen in the future. In this article, Jewish Resurrection of the Dead, written by Rabbi Louis Jacobs, the belief that the dead will be resurrected it discussed. Using information from this article I have put together a brief essay about the resurrection of the dead.

In the Torah, there are two cited instances that refer to a resurrection of the dead, otherwise widely referred to as zombies. According to the Torah, “Thy dead shall live, my dead bodies shall arise, awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust, for thy dew is as the dew of light, and the earth shall bring to life the shades" (Isaiah 26:19). This is a perfect indication that in our near future we will experience zombies. Secondly the Torah states, "And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to reproaches and everlasting abhorrence" (Daniel 12:2). This is a second indication of a zombie apocalypse.

This supports the belief that different cultures are affected by their teachings in their corresponding holy book, in this case the Torah. So what is said in the Torah and then recited in the synagogue is what spreads these beliefs. This article was a written by a Rabbi. This creates another method of how different cultures have different beliefs of the end of the world. A Rabbi is usually highly regarded in religion just as a priest is in Christianity. This means, when a Rabbi writes an article like this with such strong feelings and opinions, people begin to follow the view of this Rabbi, or priest. Also, Rabbi’s are free to write what they please in any article, so they could exaggerate or make up things. Therefore, we should proceed to view this article with caution. Although this article is more reliable than any other plain old person written article, because it is a Rabbi, meaning he knows his facts when it comes to the Torah.

Further Research: In my further research I would like to examine what happens after the world ends. Possibly, how the world and organisms would grow again and start over. What is after humans?
