Promoting Natural Beauty One Step at a Time

The Dove company took a stand and made a “Real Beauty Campaign”, where they promoted natural beauty. It became nationwide and helped so many girls, and I will talk about why they wanted to expand the definition of beautiful, and how they started the campaigns.

The “Dove Campaign For Real Beauty” is an extremely reliable source because its from the actual Dove company, and their explanation of the campaign.

  1. According to a studies findings, only 2% of  women in the world consider themselves beautiful, and Dove’s jaw dropped when they heard that fact. They wanted to completely flip the numbers, so they started something in 2004 to widen the definition of pretty. The definition of pretty was so limited that it made so many girls struggle, which Dove new was a huge problem.
  2. A new movement began in 2010, along with the first one too. It’s called, “Dove Movement For Self-Esteem”, and they created this because they believed that beauty should be a source of confidence instead of anxiety. They create self-esteem building activities that encourages happy thoughts throughout women world-wide.
  3. Another way to promote happy thoughts was that they created a Dove Self-Esteem Fund. This inspired and taught how girls can expand the definition of beautiful. They reached out to over 7 million girls and counting.
  4. A chain reaction occurred all the way in Spain after Dove started taking action into true beauty. In their fashion shows, they started banning overly thin models for the public to see. This lets girls see that being thin is not always beautiful, and other body types can be as gorgeous also.

Future Question: Is promoting natural beauty the only way to show women how beautiful they really are?
