To end overfishing should be our mission

The article from Overfishing.org an independent source of information on fishing explained how Overfishing is going to put our planet in a crisis. I read about the harm that overfishing is causing but many think that overfishing may even be worth the negative effects because the harm of the fishing industry ending or not being as productive will also cause a global crisis. It was interesting to learn about the predicament we are in and possible solutions to it such as creating no fishing zones that will strengthen the amount of fish we have, but it will take many to enforce such a ruling.

The fishing industry is destroying the population of fish on Earth. We possess enough fishing boats for 3 planets and were packing them all on one. Compared to 1900 "we have 1/7 the amount of fish" and if this continues we could wipe out the whole population of fish. To stop our tradition of fishing or cut it in half  is not as easy as members of many Environmental Protection Agencies think it is, over 1 billion people rely on fish every single day as their main source of protein is something that the article states. What this means is 1/7 people are reliant on fish to feed them every day, in order to save these fish we will  need to find an alternate food source for these men and women which many of them would not be very happy about. Not only do we have to worry about mouths to feed but fishing takes up another 35 million peoples jobs in the world. It is no doubt that the fishing industry is needed but harming the planet at the same time. Some possible solutions that the article described we making restricted fishing areas that fish can safely re-populate themselves in. If this happens we will once again reach an environmental equilibrium between us the predators and the fish the prey, though it is not as easy to enforce as many believe. Greedy fisherman would love to be in an are with a high population density of fish and no other fisherman. In order to keep these men out we will need some sort of enforcement, possibly a ocean police force.
