What Will Future Wars Be Fought Over?

One day in the future wars will be fought over water---can it be avoided?

By looking at the Water Conflict Chronology Map, we can see specific examples of conflict between nations from B.C. to the present time, including why and how the conflict occurred and exactly where it took place.  For the best results, I suggests the following search parameters.

Region: (Select All) or whatever region you're interested in
Conflict Type: (Development Dispute) or (Military Goal)
Date Range: (Select All) or whatever dates you're interested in
There is also an individual search box, if you're interested in a specific example.

Throughout history, wars have been waged for numerous reasons. A few of the more common include, land, money, power, and natural resources. As we already know, natural resources in time will become less abundant and eventually diminish. With the Earth’s overall population rapidly increasing, these resources will be used up at a faster pace than in the past. While some natural resources play a minor role in our everyday lives, others such as food and water are imperative for our survival.

In some foreign countries, the lack of clean water is already becoming an issue for the people who live there. In the last few years, conflict around water is beginning to take place in some of these water deprived places around the world. As time goes on, I believe these minor disputes between nations will become a serious global issue, and the main reason for war between nations. While it might take some time for the struggle over water to reach our own country, we have already seen the development of this issue in the regions like the Middle East, where there is a rising population and a lack of natural fresh water due to the dry climate and desert terrain. All in all, it is probable that the main source of conflict that will fuel future wars will consist of water and other natural resources that are vital to our survival.

Future Research Questions:
What were some inventions that changed war in the past?
What were some tactics/strategies that changed war in the past?
